The World is as REAL as you Perceive it to BE

A matter of perceived problem and real problem.

The story of the bear and 2 men.

2 men were camping in the jungle. To their horror, a ferocious-looking bear approaches them. One of the men says, “Oh gosh, I’m going to die. I can’t run faster than this bear!” The other man, put on his running shoes and started running away.

What does this story tells us?

The first man perceived the problem to be that since he could not outrun the bear and because of that, he’ll be eaten. The second man saw the real problem. He did not have to outrun the bear. All he needs to do in order to survive was just to outrun his friend.

How many instances in life do we have that reflects the above example?
Plenty !

On the train platform

The time is about 2pm. Off-peak hours. The train platform board reads “the next train would arrive in 6 minutes” And why do you see people standing on the platform so kan-chiongly (anxious)…

All simply because they want to secure a seat.

But do they have to?

There is simply no point for one to be standing 6 minutes waiting in front of the door when you are in a station like Sengkang (2rd station from the end) at an off-peak time and when you can count the number of people on the platform with just one hand.

Supply is abundant and demand is few.

It’s not a matter of how long you stand waiting in front of the door that determines whether you get a seat a not. It’s who else is competing the seat with you!

So next time, you might want to just sit back and relax until your “competitors” show up.

It’s about doing the least to get the most. For everything else as well. In life.
